
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited secured a contract for the electro-mechanical equipment package for the 330-MW Kishanganga hydro project in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
BHEL was awarded the order for the hydroelectric project's complete electro-mechanical package, the company reported. The order is valued at Rs. 495 crore (US$107 million).
NHPC, formerly National Hydroelectric Power Corp., is developing the project.
The scope of work in the contract envisages design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of complete electro-mechanical works for the project. Major equipment to be supplied includes three hydro turbines with matching synchronous generators; excitation system; transformers; microprocessor-based controls, state-of-the-art monitoring and protection system and switchyard, besides other associated equipment and auxiliaries.
