Hydropower company Tryggestad Kraft AS has named Rainpower ASA of Norway to supply turbines and other equipment for the 6.5-MW Litlebo hydroelectric project on Norway's Langedalen River.
Rainpower, of Kjeller, Norway, was chosen from among four bidders for the contract, which is to run through October 2010. (HydroWorld 2/13/09)
The company is to supply three Francis turbines, one for flows of 3 cubic meters per second and a head of 63 meters, one for flows of 5.5 cms and a head of 83 meters, and one for flows of 2.4 cms and a head of 83 meters. Other equipment to be supplied includes a transformer, controls, and switchgear.
Litlebo is to be built on the Langedalen about four kilometers from Hellesylt in the municipality of Stranda. It is to have annual generation of 23 gigawatt-hours.
