ITPC, a joint venture of Zambia Electricity Supply Corp. and Tata Africa Holdings (Pty) of South Africa, announced last year it planned to reopen bidding for Itezhi-Tezhi as a single EPC contract. (HNN 8/14/08) It previously took separate bids for civil construction and hydro-mechanical equipment.
For the current solicitation, all work is to be combined into a single EPC contract. The hydro project is to be built at the existing Itezhi-Tezhi Dam, a storage reservoir for 900-MW Kafue Gorge, 230 kilometers downstream.
Work is to include two 60-MW vertical Kaplan turbine-generators; intake structure with screens, trashrack, and gates; two penstocks and screens; powerhouse with control room, relay room, station services, and battery room; substation and switchyard; auxiliary equipment and balance of plant; and design and construction of civil works.
Bidding documents in English may be obtained from the address below for US$250 in cash or bank certified check. Bids are due by 2:30 p.m. March 20.
