India state reopens bidding for six small hydro projects

Uttarakhand Infrastructure Projects Co. (UIPC) has reopened bidding to develop six small hydroelectric projects totaling 24.45 MW. Bids are due February 26.

UIPC, a joint venture of Uttarakhand State and Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services, previously called for bids by September 23, 2008, an extension of the original bid due date of September 5. (HNN 9/5/08)

Four of the projects are offered in one lot, as Bid No. 03/UIPC/Hydro/2008-09, under special project venture Nayar Valley Hydel Power Co. Private Ltd.: 17-MW Nayar, 2.25-MW Byaligaon (or Biyaligaon), 2-MW Santudhar 1 (or Santoodhar 1), and 2-MW Santudhar 2 (or Santoodhar 2). Two others are offered under another lot, as Bid No. 04/UIPC/Hydro/2008-09, under special project venture Bijapur Power Co. Private Ltd.: 1-MW Purkul and 200-kW Bijapur.

UIPC said detailed project reports (DPRs) are available for the projects, which also have obtained major administrative approvals. The developer is to be responsible for land lease agreement, design and engineering, construction, and operation and maintenance on a build-own-operate-transfer basis.

Bid documents may be obtained until February 26 from the address below for the Nayar Valley projects (Bid No. 03) for 25,000 rupees (US$517) plus 12.5 percent tax; DPRs may be obtained for 100,000 rupees (US$2,067) plus tax. Bid documents for the Bijapur Power projects (Bid No. 04) may be obtained until February 26 for 10,000 rupees (US$207) plus tax; DPRs may be obtained for 25,000 rupees (US$517) plus tax. Payment is by demand draft to Uttarakhand Infrastructure Projects Co. Pvt. Ltd. at Dehradun.
