With a credit from the World Bank's International Development Association, Cameroon seeks consultants to study economically viable technical solutions to electrify any of Cameroon's administrative units that currently are without public electricity service. The consultant is to select five pilot concessions and assist the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ARSEL) and the Rural Electrification Agency (AER) in tendering.
The energy sector development project includes creation of rural energy funds; reinforcement of the capacities of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MINEE), Electricity Development Corp. (EDC), ARSEL, and AER; and preparation of energy projects including Lom Pangar and rural energy projects. (HNN 8/4/08)
The government previously sought consultants to study the cumulative environmental impact of Lom Pangar and other potential projects in the Sanaga River Basin. (HNN 10/22/08)
