The African Union Commission (AUC), New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Secretariat, and African Development Bank (AfDB) previously announced plans to seek consultants for the work. (HNN 7/22/08) The parties are jointly preparing the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa, which is jointly financed with funds managed by AUC and AfDB, the executing agency.
The program is to establish a strategic framework for development of regional and continental infrastructure in transport, energy, telecommunications, and water. It also is to establish an infrastructure development program and an implementation strategy.
Project components include four separate studies in the sectors in question as well as design of a support database, and an audit.
A short list of the seven best-qualified bidders is to be invited to submit proposals. Request for proposals documents are to be made available to the short-listed firms by December 22.
