  • Senegal River agency seeks studies of 280-MW Koukoutamba, 25-MW Gourbassi

    The multi-nation Senegal River management agency invites expressions of interest from consultants to study and prepare for tendering the 280-MW Koukoutamba and 25-MW Gourbassi hydroelectric projects. Responses in separate solicitations are due November 5.

    The river management agency, Organisation pour la Mise en Valeur du Fleuve Senegal (OMVS), has received a credit of US$110 million from the World Bank's International Development Association for an integrated management program that includes feasibility studies of five multipurpose hydroelectric projects.     280-MW Koukoutamba

    In solicitation No. 003/OMVS/08, the agency invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a feasibility study and detailed preliminary draft for development of a request for proposals to build the 280-MW Koukoutamba project on the Bafing River in Guinea.

    Feasibility study work is to include updating previous studies of the project, developing a final draft of project features, and studying effects on environment and the economy. The detailed preliminary draft is to include a precise bill of quantities and cost estimates, solicitation documents for civil engineering and equipment supply, study of civil engineering works, technical specifications, and assistance in review of pre-selection documents.

    25-MW Gourbassi

    In solicitation No. 002/OMVS/08, OMVS invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a feasibility study and summary preliminary draft of the 25-MW Gourbassi project on the Faleme River in Mali.

    Feasibility study work is to include updating previous studies of the project and collecting topographic, hydrological, climatic, geological, and hydrogeologic information. Work also includes study of water requirements for agriculture, navigation, and other uses and study of social and environmental effects. The consultant also is to undertake studies of alternatives for technical design of the installation.
