Peru's Ministerio de Energia y Minas has granted a concession to Energia Azul to perform feasibility studies of the 750-MW Santa Maria hydroelectric project in Peru.
Peru's Andina news service said the energy ministry on September 11 allowed Energia Azul 24 months to perform studies of Santa Maria in La Mar Province of Arequipa Department and Chincheros Province of Apurimac Department.
In performing the study, Energia Azul is required to respect regulatory standards and security, preserving the environment and cultural resources.
If the concessionaire fails to perform the study within the established guidelines and schedule, it will forfeit a guarantee to the Direccion General de Electricidad.
