Cameroon seeks feasibility study for 75-MW Bini a Warak

The government of Cameroon seeks proposals from U.S. firms to perform a feasibility study of the 75-MW Bini a Warak hydroelectric project on the Vina North River in Cameroon's Northern Province. Proposals are due September 12.

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (TDA) approved a US$662,000 grant to Cameroon in May for investment analysis of the viability of Bini a Warak. (HNN 5/20/08)

The hydro project study also is to examine construction of transmission and distribution facilities for power deliveries in northern Cameroon and for exports to Chad and Nigeria. TDA said the plant would provide the isolated Northern Province needed power and the national government needed revenues from power exports.

The contract is open to U.S. firms only. The U.S. firm may use subcontractors from the host country for up to 20 percent of the TDA grant amount.

A detailed request for proposals may be obtained from U.S. Trade and Development Agency, 1000 Wilson Blvd., Suite 1600, Arlington, VA 22209-3901 U.S.A. The RFP may be requested in electronic format on the Internet at www.ustda.gov/USTDA/FedBizOpps/RFP/rfpform.asp. Requests for a mailed hard copy may be sent by fax to IRC, U.S. Trade and Development Agency, Fax: (1) 703-875-4009. Firms wanting to use an overnight delivery service should include a delivery service account number in the request.

Proposals, in English, are due by 4 p.m., Cameroon time, September 12 to the address below. For information, contact Dudley Achu Sama, Principal Engineer and Technical Adviser, Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MINEE), P.O. Box 308, Yaounde, Cameroon; Tel./Fax: (237) 2223-5608.
