  • Pakistan seeks civil work, EM equipment for 106-MW Golen Gol

    Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) invites applications for pre-qualification for two lots of civil works and for electro-mechanical equipment for the 106-MW Golen Gol hydroelectric project. Bids, in separate solicitations, are due March 11.

    The run-of-river project is proposed for the Golen Gol River, a tributary of the Mastuj River in Chitral District of Pakistan's Northwest Frontier Province. (HNN 3/23/07) It is to include a diversion weir, headrace canal and tunnel, vertical and pressure shaft, and surge shaft and chambers, with a design discharge of 30 cms and average annual energy production of 436 gigawatt-hours.

    A feasibility study was completed previously in collaboration with Germany's technical assistance organization, Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ).

    Lot 2: Diversion weir, tunnels, surge tank

    WAPDA invites pre-qualification for Lot 2, Construction of Civil Works for diversion weir, tunnels, and other intake structures. Major components include diversion weir and lateral intake, sand trap, gravel trap, headrace channel and tunnel, surge tank, pressure tunnel and shaft, and access tunnel, including hydraulic steel works.

    Lot 3.1: Powerhouse, tailrace, switchyard

    WAPDA invites pre-qualification for Lot 3.1, Construction of Civil Works of Powerhouse, Tailrace, and Switchyard. The powerhouse is to be located on the left bank of Mastuj River near its confluence with the Golen Gol.

    Lot 3.3: Electro-mechanical equipment

    WAPDA invites pre-qualification for Lot 3.3, Electro-mechanical Equipment of Powerhouse and Switchyard. The contract is to include design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of electro-mechanical equipment including three turbine-generators. It is expected that invitations for bid will be issued in July.

    Pre-qualification documents for each solicitation may be obtained from the address below for 5,000 rupees or US$80 for each solicitation, plus 500 rupees ($12.50) if postal delivery is desired. Payment is by bank draft to the address below.
