Irish utility ESB Power Generation has named Voith Siemens Hydro Kraftwerkstechnik GmbH to refurbish a generator at the 292-MW Turlough Hill pumped-storage project at Glendalough in County Wicklow, Ireland.
ESB said it awarded the contract by negotiation with Voith Siemens after a prior call for bids received no responses. It said urgency of unforeseen events also prompted the award.

The contract to refurbish Turlough Hill Unit 1, one of four pump-turbine units, was awarded November 9.
