  • Peru utility sees construction start for 255-MW Santa Rita

    11/23/2007
Peru developer Electricidad Andina S.A. expects to begin construction of the 255-MW Santa Rita hydroelectric project on Peru's Santa River by the end of March.

As reported by Business News Americas, state news agency Andina quoted Electricidad Andina spokesman Jose Miguel Morales saying the project is expected to be completed by early 2011. Morales said the developer is accepting offers from companies to build the US$350 million project in Ancash Department.

This stage, which will be a complicated period due to the Christmas festivities, will take roughly a month and a half, he said.

The run-of-river project, 400 kilometers north of Lima, is financed jointly by Andina and London-based Trading Emissions plc. (HNN 11/14/06) Electricidad Andina S.A. awarded a contract to Poyry Energy in 2006 for basic and tender design services.
