Russian firm to equip Mexico's 750-MW La Yesca

Russian equipment supplier Power Machines announced September 11 that it won a contract to supply turbine-generators and other equipment to Mexico's 750-MW La Yesca hydroelectric project on the Santiago River.

Mexico's Comision Federal de Electricidad awarded the construction contract for La Yesca September 6 to a consortium led by Ingenieros Civiles Asociados (ICA). (HNN 9/7/07) Power Machines said it will serve as subcontractor to ICA and its partners to supply equipment worth US$200 million.

The company said it would deliver two 375-MW hydropower turbines and other hydro-mechanical and electrical equipment. It is to manufacture, deliver, and install the equipment from 2008-2012. Construction is to begin in late September and run through June 2012.

La Yesca is to be part of a cascade on the Santiago, along with the existing 975-MW Aguamilpa and 750-MW El Cajon plants, whose generating equipment also was supplied by Power Machines. (HNN 6/4/07)
