  • Guinea utility seeks power sector consultant

    Utility Electricite de Guinee (EDG) invites expressions of interest from consultants for a power sector improvement program that is to include hydropower. Responses are due June 11.

    The government of Guinea has received a credit from the World Bank's International Development Association to improve the effectiveness of its electricity sector.

    Guinea currently seeks consulting services to assist with engineering and technical supervision, tender preparation, business sector planning, and power sector policy.

    The program's principal components include improvement of distribution efficiency, rehabilitation of production, strengthening of institutions, and technical aid. Previous announcements in the program have said improvement of generation facilities is to include hydroelectric production equipment for the 75-MW Garafiri hydroelectric project, which is being built on the Konkoure River.     Interested consultants may obtain information about reference documents from the address below through June 7. Expressions of interest, labeled AMI/003/EDG/PAESE/2007, are due by 10 a.m. June 11.
