  • Alstom supplies three Scandanavian plants

Alstom has won three orders to modernize hydropower equipment at projects in Sweden and Norway.

Vattenfall AB awarded a contract to Alstom and Waplans to refurbish the 37-year-old turbine-generator and other equipment of the 65-MW Gejman hydroelectric plant on Ume River at Storuman, Sweden. Alstom will install a new 63-MVa generator, turbine runner, and distributed control equipment for ancillary systems. Waplans is responsible for all other turbine parts and their installation. Commissioning is planned in late 2007.

In Norway, utility Skagerak Kraft AS commissioned Alstom to supply two 18.5-MVa replacement generators at the Gronvollfoss hydro station. Gronvollfoss was built in 1933 on the Tinna River at Notodden, Norway.

Also in Norway, Alstom received a contract from utility Nord-Trondelag Elektrisitetsverk to supply a 21-MW turbine-generator for the Funna hydro station. Funna is to be operational in mid-2007 in Meraker, Norway.
